Edward Alcock
was an itinerant portrait painter practicing in Bath (1757), Birmingham
(1759-60), Bristol and London. He also was a miniaturist and Genre
painter. Chatterton wrote a poem about him 1769. Exhibited one picture
at the Royal Academy and six at the Free Society. Influenced by
Rembrandt and was fond of shadows, but retained a naïve feel
to his work.
